I started this website after seeing so many amazing photographers doing this. Most of them are doing self portraits, but I decided that I wanted to do the best of the best pictures. I hope that this gallery will inspire you to pick up your camera daily to find the loves of your life.
I thought it only appropriate for me to start with my love...my daughter.
Day 11, July 17, 2007:
Self Portrait
Well, Mom4Squirrels wanted to see my face so here you go. I hope you enjoy. There are very few photos of me so you are the lucky ones to get to finally see what I look like. I think that a lot of photographers pick up the camera because they don't want to be in the picture...okay maybe that is just me.
I thought this turned out pretty nicely considering I really don't have a clue when it comes to PhotoShop and if you asked me to do this again. Ha! There is no way. It is always luck for me. I know how to do just a few things. You guys are really inspiring me though to try out more stuff.
I hope you enjoy!
Day 9, July 15, 2007:
Self-Portrait
Since I am at all the church events, but never documented at them because I am taking the pictures. I decided to take my self-portrait in our pastor's glasses.
Day 14, July 20, 2007
The Great Balloon Eclipse
Okay, so this wasn't actually taken today, but I was going back to edit some of my photos and this one caught my eye. I loved the eclipsing effect of the sun on the balloon with the rich blue vignetting that took place. Anyway, you can see more of these photos in
The Great Park Inauguration Gallery
By the way, these were taken on a different day than the previous balloon photos.
Day 8, July 17, 2007:
Mutual Admiration
Our house is now the target of these lovely moth caterpillars. I don't mind them so much as long as I don't step on them in my bare feet...which has happened recently and I know I won't like the 20 that have already formed cocoons all over our front porch because I know that they are going to want to be in our house.
I thought this was a cute photo because the caterpillar is looking back at Amelia. She is fascinated with them and wants to look for them everyday. I think what I love about being a Mom is the fact that I get to learn how to be in awe of life again...especially in the tiniest of things.
PhotoShop info:
I did have to do a Gaussian blur and I colorized the background because it was way too distracting. Any comments and suggestions are very welcome. It was hard to get in close enough to get the detail of the caterpillar, keep Amelia in focus and get limited DOF.
Day 7: July 14, 2007 (1 of 2):
Tonight, we journeyed out to the El Toro Marine Base in Irvine, California to see the first tangible sign of it becoming Orange County's Great Park. Tomorrow, the attraction will open to the public for free rides until the end of the year. It is an amazing sight and I wish that I had time to have taken other photos. I will definitely have to go back for different angles.
This balloon attraction will hold 25 to 30 people at a time and carry them 500 feet into the air. Amelia was amazed with the sight of the balloon and wanted to know if it was going to pop tonight since that is what always happens to her balloons in the middle of the night (wink, wink).
You can learn more about the Great Park at their website at
http://www.ocgp.org.
I was glad that I went now even though it is basically in a dirt field at this point because I am sure that as it becomes more and more advertised, it is going to be a zoo to go and see it.
We also were able to see an amazing sunset. The clouds over Saddleback Mountain looked as if they were waves crashing over the mountains.

Day 7: July 14, 2007 (2 of 2):
I know that these are out of order, but I think I like the other photo better. Any comments are more than welcome.

Day 10, July 16, 2007:
Country Boys!
Well, I can't actually take credit for the picture itself as this was taken in Illinois and I live in California, but I loved the picture of my nephews so much that I had to add it to the photo of the day. I did, however, have to do a little bit of PhotoShop to remove some people from the background and a Gaussian blur to take some of the detail out...so it makes it half mine.
Brighton, the one in the cowboy hat, got it at his Boy Scout camp and his little brother is always a ham. I love this picture because their mother is the farthest thing from a Country Girl that there could be so to have her boys dressed like this is AWESOME. Enjoy!
Day 6, July 12, 2007:
This is my daughter telling a story about a butterfly that she encountered in the Mountains. She told us that she was originally scared and then her daddy told her that it was okay. In case you didn't realize, she is signing the word butterfly here.

The Story of the Butterfly
There is one picture where she is thinking that is a riot. I had a hard time figuring out what picture to use, but this one had such amazing wonder in her eyes.

Day 5, July 11, 2007:
I really had an idea here, but with a two year old, I wasn't given a whole lot of opportunity before she was done with the photo experiment. She only allowed me to get three shots off and I had hoped to have more of her hand in the photo.
Day 3, July 9, 2007:
It must be raining somewhere.
I took this picture because I was craving a change in weather. Although Southern California is a beautiful place to live, the non-seasons can be a drag at times. We have had a lot of heat and I am tired of it. I would kill for some rain and I know that my parents in Dallas would kill for some sun. Let's trade.
